NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): The traffic police in Neelum district have launched a helmet awareness campaign to educate the local population and motorcycle riders on the importance of helmets, and the possible hazards that come with ignoring them. This move is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related injuries in the region.
During the campaign, traffic officers stopped motorcyclists who were riding without helmets and informed them about the life-saving importance of protective headgear. Authorities have stated that while the current focus is on awareness and education, strict action will be taken against those who continue to ignore helmet safety rules in the future.
The Neelum area conducts a helmet awareness program to establish protective road habits, especially among young drivers who frequently dismiss essential safety rules. The authorities view helmet usage as an official obligation to protect public safety.
Previously, the authorities conducted a strict operation last week which mirrored their moves in Rawalakot to enhance traffic law enforcement. The operation was led by Rawalakot Commissioner Sardar Mushtaq Ahmed with Motor Vehicle Examiner Muhammad Zeeshan, TSI Kazim Hussain Shah Sajad Ali Khan and several local police officers.
Rawalakot’s team performed traffic checks at Petrol Gas Chowk that led to the seizures of four vehicles along with multiple motorcycles, with penalties for operators under eighteen years old. Law enforcement authorities punished those who chose to operate motorbikes without protective helmets.
The Neelum helmet awareness program teamed up with Rawalakot’s enforcement strategy to demonstrate expanding safety policies which target road accidents through better compliance. The law enforcement initiatives will remain active until officials reach their goal of obtaining strict traffic rule adherence.
The message is clear: helmets save lives, and the helmet awareness campaign is a crucial step toward building a safer road environment for all.
