LONDON (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister and President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, said that the world is closely watching the Kashmir issue and stressed that the United Nations (UN) should implement its resolutions on the matter.
Speaking to the media in London, Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan has good friends around the world who have always stood by the country in difficult times. He stated that all friendly nations have continued to support Pakistan.
He said the United Nations should realise the importance of acting on the resolutions already passed on Kashmir. According to him, the eyes of the entire world are on the Kashmir issue.
Nawaz Sharif also spoke about the political and economic situation in Pakistan.
He said that the steps taken by the PML-N government are having a positive impact on both the economy and politics. He also added that people are getting relief due to the government’s efforts.
He praised the performance of the Punjab government under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz, who is also his daughter, and said that people are witnessing improvement in the province with each passing day.
He credited the public’s support in recent elections to the good work of both, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Nawaz Sharif recalled that in 2017, people were hopeful about the direction Pakistan was heading in, and there were clear signs of development. However, he said that conspiracies led the country towards devastation.
He expressed satisfaction that Pakistan is now moving forward again, which he described as a positive sign. He said the world is now seeing Pakistan as a strong and emerging country.
Additionally, Speaking to reporters outside his London residence at Avenfield House, Nawaz Sharif stated that the PML-N had played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan and rebuilding the economy, which he claimed had suffered under the previous administration.
“People vote for work. Work should be done along with politics,” he remarked, noting that the country’s situation was steadily improving and moving toward stability.
