MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The National Measles and Rubella Prevention Campaign was formally launched under the patronage of District Health Officer Muzaffarabad, Dr. Abdul Mateen.

This special campaign will continue in a coordinated manner across the Muzaffarabad district from November 17 to November 29, 2025.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the local Hotel MKR with Commissioner Muzaffarabad Chaudhry Muhammad Guftar as the special guest.

Dr. Raja Imtiaz Ahmed (Assistant Professor, Kashmir Medical College, Muzaffarabad) and officials from the World Health Organization (WHO), donors, partners, and the health department also attended the ceremony.

As per the scope of the campaign, hundreds of vaccination teams have been formed in all the union councils of Muzaffarabad district, according to the health department, which will provide services at home, schools, mosques, and community places.

The main goal of the campaign is to provide measles and rubella vaccines to all children aged 6 months to 5 years, which will be provided completely free of charge.

Regarding the importance of revaccination, according to health officials, children who have already been vaccinated against measles and rubella should also be vaccinated with booster vaccines during this national campaign so that the children’s immune system against diseases can be further strengthened and the risks of epidemics can be reduced.

The Health Department has appealed to parents, government agencies, community leaders, and teachers to fully cooperate in this national campaign and ensure the vaccination of their children, because timely vaccination is the only effective way to get rid of dangerous diseases like measles, rubella, and polio.
