BAGH (Kashmir English): Superintendent of Police (SP) Bagh Amiruddin has accused the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) of using civilian houses for its unlawful activities, linking it to the October 29 explosion in Pandi village that killed four people.

In a video statement, the police official raised serious questions over the use of civilian houses by the “riot gang” for their mischievous activities and the loss of precious lives.

Speaking about the incident, SP Amiruddin said two women and two children lost their lives, while one girl was injured in the explosion.

The police official added that following the incident, law enforcement agencies launched a search and clearance operation in the area, where they came under indiscriminate heavy gunfire, including grenades, from the action committee miscreants.

The police officer said the absence of visible blast marks on the walls and holes in the floor of the affected house indicated that the explosion occurred inside the house, denying the claims that the law enforcement agencies were linked to the incident.

He further accused the group of using the incident to launch a social media campaign against state institutions and of using online platforms to create confrontation with the state since day one.

The incident revealed that the action committee uses the houses of poor people as their hideout, he added.

SP Amiruddin said those found responsible for the deaths of innocent people would be brought to justice and face punishment.
