ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The authorities are hoping that after the new measures introduced by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), there will be a significant increase in death registrations with NADRA.

NADRA has announced that the cancellation of identity cards based on death will now be completely free, and no fee will be charged for it.

NADRA has further strengthened the data sharing system with the Provincial Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) to bring transparency to death registrations.

Along with this, biometric verification has also been made mandatory to eliminate any possibility of incorrect or fake entries.

According to officials, initially, some technical difficulties were experienced after the reforms, but the results are very encouraging.

There has been a six-fold increase in death registrations, significant improvement in data accuracy, and a clear reduction in fake entries, the officials said.

NADRA adds new features to Pak ID App

NADRA has added new features to the Pak ID App for public convenience. Now, citizens can submit applications for the cancellation of their close relative’s identity card after death through this app.

In three districts of Punjab, death registration has also been made possible through the app, as a pilot project.

NADRA has said that soon, this facility for birth, marriage, divorce, and death registration will be available nationwide.

Along with this, a free facility to view family records and a feature to identify data discrepancies have also been added to the app so that citizens can keep their records accurate themselves.

NADRA has appealed to citizens to register important life events promptly with the Provincial Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) and keep their family records updated with NADRA to avoid any legal or documentary difficulties in the future.
