LAHORE (Kashmir English): Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has resigned from his position, with his formal resignation reportedly sent to the President of Pakistan.
According to judicial sources, Justice Kayani cited ill health and personal reasons following major surgery and subsequent medical complications that he said had made it difficult to continue performing his official duties.
However, according to a report by private TV reporter Waqar Sati, dissatisfaction over the allocation of cases, a feeling of being repeatedly overlooked, and his appointment to the Rawalpindi bench were also among the factors reportedly contributing to his decision.
Justice Kayani joined the Lahore High Court on April 29, 2026, after serving as a judge of the Islamabad High Court. According to the report, he was reportedly receiving mainly family-related cases, which contributed to his frustration over his judicial assignments.
