MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has asked Members Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and members Kashmir Council to submit asset details by Jan 15 or face suspension.
The spokesperson for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission stated in a press release that, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26-A, Sub-section (1) of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council (Election) Act 1976, and Section 78, Sub-section (4) of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Elections Act 2020, it is mandatory for AJK Council members and every member of the AJK Legislative Assembly to submit details of their assets and those of their dependent spouses and children to the Election Commission before December 31 of the same year, following the June 30 deadline.
“Otherwise, the names of such members of the Kashmir Council and Legislative Assembly whose asset details have not been submitted will be published via a press release on January 1.”

The Election Commission said that in accordance with the law, the names of the members are being published and if the details of assets are not submitted by these members by January 15, 2026, their membership may be suspended under the relevant law, and will remain suspended until the assets are submitted.
