ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi announced an initiative to recruit 9000 young people into the Islamabad police.
He stated that during this recruitment process, various posts are going to be filled, such as Assistant Sub-Inspector, Sub-Inspector, direct inspectors, and others etc.
He further explained how the addition of these new personnel would help them build up their strength and tackle more challenges.
“A lot of our serving police officials have reached an age where they’re about to retire,” Rizvi explained during his recent press briefing. “We need to induct a young force that can improve operations on the ground, especially when it comes to preventing crimes as well as responding to emergencies.”
The fresh addition of manpower would lead to better visibility for police forces, fewer holes in operations, and greater efficiency of community policing efforts across Islamabad.
Another big development announced by the Islamabad Police was a plan to switch from internal combustion engines to green energy through more electric vehicles. In recent months, the police added 50 electric patrol vehicles to their fleet, but they’ll be getting another 50 EVs meant for general policing operations soon, too.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police would get 40 electric patrol vehicles to help with even quicker traffic management and emergency responses at little extra cost.
Overall, this should support Islamabad’s larger goal of becoming one of Pakistan’s greenest cities, which itself aligns with the federal government’s cleaner energy plans.
This comes after Islamabad Police announced a major recruitment drive last month for executive and ministerial staff, which included positions such as ASIs, Constables, Band Staff, Mounted Police, Assistants, Production Assistants, Stenotypists, Data Entry Operators, Upper Division Clerks (UDCs), and Lower Division Clerks among others.
These measures are being taken to modernise and scale up the police strength in line with the city’s growing population and changing security needs.
Combined, these job ads show how Islamabad Police continues to prioritise expanding manpower while simultaneously modernising its vehicle fleet with electric cars and improving general policing quality.
