ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Monday arrived in Islamabad along with a high-level delegation on an official visit, where he was received by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, state media reported.
Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, Momeni is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The Iranian Minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan, Deputy Interior Minister, Deputy Minister of Urban Development and Transport, Head of the National Iranian Oil Company, Special Representative of the Minister of Agriculture and other senior officials.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed hope that his Iranian counterpart has brought good news and that the visit will boost bilateral relations, according to the statement issued by the Interior Ministry.
“I also hope for progress on the regional situation,” Naqvi added.
Later, Eskandar Momeni called on Mohsin Naqvi. “It is a great pleasure to meet my brother Mohsen Naqvi again,” the Iranian Interior Minister said. “I have always appreciated the hospitality of the Pakistani government and people.”
Naqvi added that Pakistan-Iran relations are exemplary, adding that the visit of the Iranian Interior Minister will be fruitful.
