ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Indian government has once again accused Pakistani social media accounts of being behind the ongoing student protests in India.
The Modi government has blocked 480 Pakistani social media accounts in an attempt to divert public attention from domestic issues and avoid accountability.
Indian authorities have repeatedly attributed internal unrest, including protests by students, farmers and civil society groups, to alleged external influence, particularly from Pakistan, instead of addressing the underlying grievances raised by demonstrators.
Moreover, the opinions challenging the official narrative are frequently labeled as Pakistani disinformation, with cross-border allegations being used to shift focus away from internal governance issues.
Blaming Pakistani social media cannot conceal domestic challenges or reduce public dissatisfaction, adding that criticism of state institutions should be addressed through transparency rather than external accusations.
It also contends that reliance on statements from security officials, instead of presenting independently verifiable digital forensic evidence such as metadata or IP tracing, weakens allegations regarding foreign involvement in online campaigns.

The assertions come amid heightened tensions in the information domain, where competing narratives have increasingly accompanied political and diplomatic disputes between India and Pakistan.
