DELHI (Kashmir English): An Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, has gone missing from radar in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, Indian media reported, citing Defence PRO in Guwahati on Thursday.
News18 reported that the fighter jet has reportedly crashed near Chokihola around 7 pm, adding that one pilot is reported missing following the crash. Defence officials said that a search has been launched to find its whereabouts.
Initial information suggests that the Su-30 MKI, which is a 4.5-generation aircraft, had gone missing while performing a sortie.
Some reports suggest that the aircraft has crashed, and the locals had even heard a loud explosion.
