ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The price of the Suzuki Cultus in Pakistan could decrease by up to Rs500,000 under the government’s proposed Auto Policy 2026–31, potentially bringing its price down from approximately Rs4.3 million to Rs3.8 million.
According to reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the final draft of the five-year auto policy, which will now be submitted to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for review before being presented to the Federal Cabinet.
The proposed policy includes recommendations to revise vehicle taxes and import duties to make automobiles more affordable and improve the automotive sector. It also proposes gradually reducing customs duties on vehicles equipped with conventional engines, as well as sports utility vehicles (SUVs), to 15 percent by 2031.
The government plans to initiate the required legislation to implement the proposed changes after receiving approval from the IMF and the Federal Cabinet.
However, the potential Rs500,000 reduction in the Suzuki Cultus price has not yet been finalized. Neither the government nor the company has officially announced a revised price for the vehicle.
Any reduction will depend on the final approval of the proposed auto policy, the enactment of relevant legislation, and the resulting changes to the tax and duty structure.
For now, the expected price of Rs3.8 million remains a projection rather than a confirmed new price.
