ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent interview, the Director General (DG) of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt. Gen Ahmed Sharif, has stated that India is engaged in sponsoring terrorism campaign, causing tensions in this region.

In an exclusive interview with RT Arabia, DG ISPR said it is important to explore the background of the matter if the conflict between India and Pakistan is to be understood at all.

“He said India is using a fake narrative to mask the truth”, adding that within a few minutes of the Pahalgam incident, the Indian media was blaming Pakistan.

“The Indian foreign ministry pointed out two days later that the investigation was still underway,” said DG ISPR, noting that there is no basis for making allegations without legitimate evidence. He further stated that the evidence for the Pahalgam incident must be given to an independent agency.

“We are willing to cooperate, but India unilaterally acted by blowing up our mosques. Innocent children, women, and elderly people were martyred by the Indians.” DG added.

“India is the biggest supporter of terrorism in Pakistan, whether it is Khawarij, terrorist groups doing work in Balochistan, and India has no support for their unreasonable actions.”

In a conversation with RT Arabic, the DG ISPR indicated that India had attacked during the night of May 6 and 7, and that PAF had shot down five Indian aircraft.

“The nation and the Pakistani forces confronted India like an iron wall. The enemy has started firing more missiles on the night of May 9 and 10, and they think they can scare us. They forget that the nation of Pakistan and its forces never bow down and cannot bow down,” he stated.

“On May 10, we attacked only military targets in a very responsible and cautious manner,” said the DG ISPR, “We did not strike a single civilian target. This was an appropriate response, a fair response, a balanced response.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif reiterated the fact that it was the spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of Defense himself who came to ask for a ceasefire. “We want peace and stability, and we thought, why not?

Pakistan has also done tremendous work in the area of diplomacy and also engaged the international community. We are not a violent nation, but we are a serious nation. Pakistan is a nation of peace,” he said.
