MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Residents of Muzaffarabad have expressed growing concern over ongoing road repair and re-tarring projects, alleging that several roads across the city have been dug up and left incomplete, creating serious difficulties for commuters and transporters.
According to citizens, road rehabilitation work is underway in various inner-city areas as well as on major highways leading in and out of the capital.
However, in many locations, roads remain torn up for weeks without completion, causing inconvenience to motorists, pedestrians, and local businesses.
Residents complain that neither adequate alternative routes nor proper safety arrangements have been provided at many construction sites. As a result, traffic congestion has increased, and road accidents have become a frequent occurrence.
The torn-up roads, dust, and cracks in places are not only affecting the flow of traffic but have also become a danger for motorcyclists and pedestrians. Citizens also report damage to vehicles caused by deteriorated and incomplete roads, while the travel time has also increased.
Citizens have demanded that the construction and repair work of roads be completed immediately, in a standard and safe manner so that further accidents and public problems can be avoided.
