BHIMBER (Kashmir English): Torrential monsoon rains have caused major destruction in District Bhimber, especially in the Kasgumma Union Council, where several roads have been washed away, leaving locals stranded and facing serious difficulties.

In the Garha area of District Bhimber, the absence of proper drainage systems led to heavy flooding in the nearby stream. As a result, mud, stones, and debris flowed onto the roads, making it extremely dangerous for commuters, especially motorcyclists.

A temporary route built during the construction of Butt Market bridge was also swept away by floodwater. This has cut off ground access for the people of Potha Dhamawa, and all vehicular movement has been stopped.

The main road from Kasgumma to Jatlan has also been severely damaged at Thatthi point, where the Nala Kasjamal overflowed. Since there are no safety walls on either side of the culvert, water flooded the road, making it impassable.

Rain continues to fall, and authorities fear that if the roads are fully submerged or destroyed, the people of District Bhimber will face even more serious problems. The lack of safety barriers poses a real risk of accidents in the area.

In addition, the Kasjamal Road and the route from Potha to Naka Rajgan are breaking apart in many places. The ongoing rain is making the situation worse, further damaging the already weak infrastructure in District Bhimber.

Locals are urging authorities to take immediate action to repair roads, install proper drainage systems, and build protective walls to prevent future damage.
