RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Commissioner Poonch Division Masood-ur-Rehman has assured that the government and the administration are serious and committed to resolving public issues.
He said this while chairing an important meeting with the city’s dignitaries, political and social figures, elected representatives, trader association representatives and other leading figures.
The meeting was part of the government-people efforts for the development of Khaigalla city, resolution of public issues, promotion of tourism and improvement in the law-and-order.
Improvement of the city infrastructure, and further improvement in public services were the key issues discussed in the meet.
Commissioner Poonch assured the participants of the meeting that the government and the administration are serious and committed to resolving public issues.
In his address, Commissioner Masood-ur-Rehman said that the administration and the people are two arms of the same body.
He assured the dignitaries that solving the legitimate demands of the people is their top priority.
He sought better regard for the bureaucracy adding if people respect the officers, they will get better service.
“Poonch is my home, and I consider it my duty to create convenience for the people here.”
The Commissioner further said that the all have to work together for the dignity of the state and public interest.
He described tourism a game changer for the region, which, he said, will create employment opportunities.
Good manners, cooperation and tolerance are the keys to development, he said and added that positive interaction with state institutions can enhance the image of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Inspector General of Police Region Sardar Zaheer Ahmed said that establishment of law and order is possible only with the mutual cooperation between police and the public.
Despite the recent unfortunate incidents like the arrest of the people from Azad Pattan, the police are working day and night to protect the life and property of public, he added.
He urged that the state and the people will have to come on the same page and thwart the designs of hostile elements.

The meeting was attended by dignitaries including Sardar Shahzaib Shabbir, Sardar Aamir Khurshid, President of Anjuman Tajran Khaigalla Sardar Muhammad Arshad, Tassaduq Hussain Chairman Union Council Pakhar, Sardar Nazir Hussain, Farooq Abdullah Councilor, Sardar Zafar Latif Inqalabi, Sabir Kashmiri Advocate, Sardar Muhammad Latif, Muhammad Nazir Chairman Ali Sojal, Talat Mahmood Chairman Town Committee, Sardar Mahmood Kashmiri, Sardar Hafeez, Sardar Nisar, Sardar Altaf Councilor, Muhammad Ali Councilor and other prominent personalities.
The urban circles welcomed the meeting and expressed the hope that the increasing contact between the administration and the people will bring a new era of development, peace and prosperity in the region.
