LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government has decided to include the topic of Marka-e-Haq in the province’s school curriculum to promote national unity and awareness among students.

It was decided during the Information Steering Committee meeting, chaired by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari.

During the meeting, several important decisions were taken regarding national unity, patriotism, and the prevention of hateful content in the province.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani, Additional Secretary Home Maham Asif, Deputy Secretary Finance Shahzad Hotiana, Director Law Shahid Imtiaz, and other officials.

The committee decided to include patriotism and nationalism in the educational curriculum and morning prayer, while it was also agreed to make subjects related to the struggle for truth and national spirit part of the curriculum.

The meeting expressed concern that the activities regarding national unity and Marka-e-Haq were organized in government institutions, but were not held in private educational institutions. Instructions were issued to start such programs in private schools as well.

The meeting also decided to make films based on Marka-e-Haq and national unity under the Film Fund, while approval was given to produce a drama on Shaheed Liaquat, who sacrificed his life while averting a suicide attack near Attock, under the Alhamra Arts Council.

The committee also approved the launch of a public awareness campaign aimed at strengthening national cohesion. Participants of the meeting requested that visits by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) to educational institutions should continue.

During the meeting, officials were also directed to intensify action against hate material ahead of Muharram-ul-Haram.

Azma Bukhari said the Information and Home departments would jointly establish a special monitoring cell to identify individuals spreading hateful content on social media and ensure the public receives timely and accurate information.

She added that no incitement or hate speech would be tolerated during Muharram, warning that strict action would be taken against those involved in spreading unrest or provocative material.
