ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would undertake an official visit to China from May 23-26.
While addressing the launch ceremony of the IBI Pakistan Digital Economy Headquarters in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar said that the premier will also attend a business-to-business forum on May 24 aimed at further strengthening commercial ties.
The deputy premier highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of making Pakistan a regional digital and innovation hub, the statement issued by the foreign office spokesperson said.
Dar underscored Pakistan’s immense IT potential, youthful talent, and rapidly growing digital economy, along with the opportunities emerging under CPEC 2.0, transitioning from physical infrastructure to intelligent infrastructure, digital connectivity, AI, ICT, and innovation ecosystems.

He reaffirmed the strength of Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Partnership, describing it as an enduring and trusted relationship entering a new phase of digital and economic cooperation.
“The launch of IBI’s Digital Economy Headquarters marks another milestone in Pak–China friendship and reflects growing confidence in Pakistan’s future as a platform for technology, investment, and digital transformation,” Dar noted.
In a separate development, Ishaq Dar said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will convene a Regional Envoys’ Conference in Islamabad from May 14–18 2026.

In a post on X, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the conference will review regional and global developments and Pakistan’s bilateral relations with brotherly countries, focusing on multifaceted areas.
“The recommendations of the Envoys’ Conference will contribute to further strengthening Pakistan’s bilateral relationship with these countries,” he wrote.
“Pakistan remains committed to proactive diplomacy and sustained regional engagement.”
