DUBAI (Kashmir English): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest one-day international (ODI) rankings, with Pakistan moving up one place to fourth in the team rankings.
As per the ICC press release, Indian batter Virat Kohli moved up one spot to second in the latest rankings after scoring his 55th ODI century against West Indies. He is only behind his teammate Shubman Gill, who also scored a century in the same match.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell is in third place, while another Indian, Rohit Sharma, sits at fourth place in the rankings, followed by Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran at fifth and Babar Azam at sixth place.
In addition, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis moved up three spots to a career-best 7th due to his 121 against England in the ongoing series, while England’s Harry Brook secured the 11th spot.
“Meanwhile in South Africa, Temba Bavuma’s century against Australia led to a 10-spot jump to 32nd, and Matthew Breetzke continues his rise in international standing, going up 19 places to 21st.”
The ICC press release further said that David Miller re-entered the rankings at 41st after scoring 142 off 93 balls in the second ODI against Australia.
ODI bowling rankings
South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj also rose to third place in ICC ODI bowling rankings after astonishing 4/20 and 2/54 against the Aussies. He is just eight rating points behind Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed.
Indian left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav made a four-spot move to fifth after his four-wicket haul against the West Indies. While Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage made a 12-spot jump to 26th for bowlers, and up five spots to 17th for all-rounders.
For the fast bowlers, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood moved five spots into 10th due to his four wickets across the two ODIs in their South Africa series.
On September 27, a unique record was also set in men’s ODI cricket, when six centuries were scored on a single day. South Africa’s Temba Bavuma and David Miller, West Indies’ Justin Graves and England’s Tom Banton scored centuries.
