DUBAI (Kashmir English): Seventeen Pakistani cricketers, including Test captain and star batter Babar Azam, have registered for the player auction of the International League T20’s fifth season.
Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, and Usman Tariq have been placed in the highest base price category.
The player auction for the fifth season of the International League T20 will take place on October 1 at the ICC Academy Indoors in Dubai.
More than 200 cricketers from 23 countries will participate in the auction, representing the 11 ICC Full Member nations, ILT20 partner countries Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and 10 other Associate nations.
In addition to Babar Azam, the Pakistani players registered for the auction include Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Usman Tariq, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Saim Ayub, Khushdil Shah, Maaz Sadaqat, and Sahibzada Farhan.
The registered players have been divided into three base price categories: $80,000, $40,000, and $10,000 (USD). Five Pakistani cricketers, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, and Usman Tariq feature in the highest base price category.
The second base price category is designated as ‘Experienced T20 Superstars’ and includes 12 international cricketers.
From Pakistan, Shadab Khan, Maaz Sadaqat, Hasan Nawaz, and Hunain are included in this category.
Other prominent international cricketers participating in the auction include Phil Salt, Tom Banton, David Willey, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Alzarri Joseph, Wanindu Hasaranga, Faf du Plessis, Taskin Ahmed, Alex Hales, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Chris Woakes, and Dasun Shanaka.
The fifth season of the ILT20 will be played in the United Arab Emirates from November 22 to December 20. Each franchise is required to select a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 23 players.
These squads must include at least 11 players from ICC Full Member nations, with a mandatory minimum of four players from Afghanistan and at least one from Ireland.
Additionally, each franchise must select at least four players from the UAE, one each from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and at least one player from an Associate nation other than the ILT20 partner countries.
