Glenn Maxwell joins Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen for PSL 11

HYDERABAD (Kashmir English): Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen have signed Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for the upcoming Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) 11th edition, the franchise announced on Thursday.

The announcement was made on the official social media accounts of the franchise.

“The playmaker, the Big-stage beast, the x-factor,” the HHK wrote in a post, announcing Glenn Maxwell as their direct signing.

The next season of PSL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, and the squad of every team has been finalised after the auction held earlier this month.

Maxwell is one of Australia’s most destructive batters in the T20 format and will make his Pakistan Super League debut this season.

He has scored 2,897 runs in 129 T20I matches at a strike rate of 158.42, including 12 half-centuries and five centuries, with a career-best unbeaten 145. He has also claimed 49 wickets with his off-spin.

The 35-year-old has also featured prominently in major leagues, including the Big Bash League, Indian Premier League, The Hundred, and the Vitality Blast.

Across 502 T20 matches, Maxwell has accumulated 10,986 runs at a strike rate of 154.16, registering 58 fifties and eight centuries, while also claiming 196 wickets

His signing is seen as a major boost for Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen as they look to assemble a competitive squad for their inaugural PSL season.

Earlier, the Hyderabad franchise had signed Australia’s top-order batter Marnus Labuschagne for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), marking their first direct signing of the tournament.

In addition to that, the franchise also signed four local players, including star opening-batter Saim Ayub, wicket-keeper batter Usman Khan, pacer Akif Javed, and emerging star Maaz Sadaqat.

The announcement was made on the official social media accounts of the franchise, which were launched a while ago.

“Yeah… this just happened. Calm under pressure. Built for big moments. Marnus Labuschagne locked in as our direct signing forPSL,” the caption read.

Furthermore, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) official social media handles posted that Saim Ayub was signed in the Platinum category for a mammoth Rs126 million, while Usman Khan was picked in the Diamond category and was acquired for Rs46.2 million.
