MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Law enforcement agencies have arrested five suspects during an intelligence-based operation in the Chahla area of Muzaffarabad, a spokesperson of the Inspector General of Police Azad Kashmir said in a statement on Tuesday.

As per the details, the AJK police, in close coordination with other security agencies, conducted a successful operation on the basis of intelligence inputs, recovering laptops, mobile phones, communication devices, and other digital evidence from the possession of the suspects.

The recovered items have been taken into custody for further forensic and technical examination, the police said.

According to the statement, further action was taken on information allegedly provided by one of the arrested individuals, which resulted in the recovery of seven automatic weapons, several grenades, maps of sensitive installations, documents related to alleged attack plans, and other materials.

Police further stated that preliminary investigations had revealed evidence suggesting alleged links between some of the suspects and a neighboring intelligence agency.

IG Azad Kashmir spokesperson said a comprehensive, impartial, and professional investigation is underway to determine the authenticity and extent of any such connections.

“This action is a significant step towards public security, state stability, and protection of sensitive national installations,” police said.

The police spokesperson further said that the force makes it clear that any activity against public order, national security, and state interests will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against such elements as per the law.

“The public is appealed to immediately report suspicious activities to the concerned agencies, avoid rumours, and continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies,” the statement reads.
