Gilgit-Baltistan (Kashmir English): Unidentified persons entered a house and murdered a husband, wife, and their two young children in an apparent tragic end to a love marriage.
The culprits slit their throats with a sharp instrument and fled, it emerged on Friday.
The incident occurred in the Skardu area of Gilgit-Baltistan, which seemed the tragic end to a love marriage.
According to Skardu police and rescue, the tragic incident occurred near the Madina Colony area of Skardu.
DIG Baltistan Range Asif Iqbal Mohmand told the media that the incident took place between 1 and 2 AM at night, information of which was received by the police around 8 AM in the morning.
He stated that the police took custody of the bodies and shifted them to the hospital while post-mortem and other legal requirements were also completed.
The love marriage
The DIG said that the couple had a love marriage six years ago and had moved from Karachi to Skardu a few years ago.
According to him, the woman belonged to Parachinar district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa while her husband belonged to Skardu.
He stated that the unidentified killers entered the house at night and first killed the woman and both children. After that, when the husband, who worked at a local hotel, reached home around two o’clock at night, he was also murdered.
Asif Iqbal Mohmand said that the entire family was killed and the throats of all four individuals were slit with a sharp instrument.
A close relative of the deceased said that in the morning when relatives reached their home for work, they found out about the murder incident, after which the police and rescue were informed.
He stated that the deceased had a love marriage with a girl from Parachinar a few years ago and later moved to Skardu.
According to him, the police have assured that the suspects will be arrested soon.
A rescue official who arrived at the scene said that they were informed by local residents in the morning. The woman’s body was found in the kitchen, while both children were murdered right on the bed. The husband’s body was found on the veranda.
Locals started a protest against the murder of the entire family in Skardu and staged a sit-in by blocking the road in front of Benazir Hospital.
The protesters condemned the incident and demanded the police to arrest the suspects soon and give them severe punishment.
