RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Authorities have dismissed a video circulating on social media regarding the Rawalakot incident, describing it as misleading content aimed at spreading fear and confusion among the public.

According to officials, the video is being shared by various PTI social media accounts, including Qasim Suri was recorded in Muzaffarabad and relates to the recent events in Rawalakot.

In the footage, an unidentified individual alleges that hundreds of people were killed and urges the public, as well as overseas Kashmiris, to raise the matter internationally.

Security sources rejected the claims made in the video, stating that there is no evidence to support allegations of mass casualties. Officials said the individual featured in the clip does not identify himself and provides no verifiable information regarding the claims being made.

Authorities also questioned the authenticity of the video’s context, noting that several details in the footage do not correspond with the prevailing situation on the ground.

According to officials, the video has been widely circulated across social media platforms, contributing to confusion and concern among citizens. They urged the public to rely on verified information from official sources and avoid sharing unconfirmed content.

Security sources further stated that investigations into the spread of false and misleading information are underway and warned that legal action could be taken against individuals found responsible for disseminating fabricated claims intended to incite unrest.

Officials reiterated that maintaining public order and preventing the spread of misinformation remain key priorities, urging citizens to exercise caution before forwarding unverified social media content.
