ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has predicted that Eid ul Adha is expected to fall on June 7.
According to the space agency, the first of Zil Hajj is likely to be observed on May 29 as the moon is expected to be sighted on the night of May 28.
With this projection, Eid ul Adha is likely to be observed on Saturday, June 7.
In a statement, the SUPARCO said that the moon will be born on May 27 at 08:02 am, so it is unlikely to sight it on the night of May 27, citing that its age will only be 11 hours and 34 minutes by sunset that day.
According to precise astronomical models, the sighting of the crescent of Zilhaj is expected on May 29.
However, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the final announcement on moon sighting and the official day of Eid ul Adha.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held on Monday, May 27 (29th Zul Qadah) in Islamabad.
The session will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the auspicious festival in the Islamic calendar is expected to fall on June 6, according to the Emirates Astronomy Society.
