MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The election campaign for the second phase of elections for the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) ended tonight.
The Election Commission of AJK had announced that the campaign for the elections in the 12 constituencies of Muzaffarabad Division and the refugees constituencies in Pakistan will officially end at 12:00 midnight between July 31 and August 1, ahead of polling scheduled for August 2.

In a press statement, the spokesperson for the Election Commission stated that according to the election rules of AJK, all types of campaigning will not be allowed after the end of the campaigning period.
“The contesting candidates, political parties, agents of elections, workers, and other supporters will not be allowed to conduct, arrange, or participate in any public meeting, rally, procession, corner meeting, or other form of gathering related to elections in the concerned constituencies,” the commission said.
The electoral body appealed to all contesting candidates, political parties and their supporters to adhere strictly to the election rules, code of conduct, and instructions of the Commission to make sure that the polls are conducted in a peaceful, free, and fair manner.
The spokesperson cautioned that any contravention of the election rules and code of conduct after the conclusion of the campaigning period would result in strict legal action under the law.
The polling for nine constituencies of the Muzaffarabad Division and 12 constituencies reserved for Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan would start at 8 AM and continue until 5 PM. The third and last phase of the elections would be held on August 10.
