MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has issued a new media code of conduct for the 2026 elections.
The policy aims to ensure transparency, impartiality, and responsible journalistic traditions in the electoral process.
According to the Election Commission of Azad Kashmir, all media organizations have been directed to demonstrate complete impartiality during election coverage and strictly implement the code of conduct.
The announcement states that only authorized media representatives will be allowed to cover inside the polling station, however, any kind of recording or photography of the secret voting process inside the polling booth will be strictly prohibited.
The Election Commission has imposed a complete ban on broadcasting any kind of exit polls, results or trends before the end of the polling. It has been emphasized to refrain from broadcasting hateful, inflammatory or sectarian content.
According to the announcement, broadcasting false, unverified or misleading information has also been prohibited. All candidates have been directed to give equal and fair representation in the election coverage.
The Election Commission has made it clear that the accreditation of the concerned media organization may be cancelled and legal action will also be taken for violation of the code of conduct.
The Commission has appealed to all media organizations to ensure full implementation of the election code of conduct so that the trust and transparency of the electoral process can be maintained.
