KABUL (Kashmir English): Differences have grown within the ruling Taliban regime in Afghanistan, and they have started criticizing one another.
According to Afghan media reports, Afghan Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani recently visited Paktika, where he met with local tribes and delivered a speech.
According to a statement issued by the Afghan Ministry of Interior, the Interior Minister emphasized the need to protect themselves from chaos and the unity of the government and the people, stating that “we should be united as we were during the jihadist era in the past, and national interests should be prioritized over personal interests.”
He said that both religion and homeland are important for Afghans, and they should work together for the country’s development with a strong Islamic faith.
He stated that the people should be gently encouraged to respect Islamic values.
On the other hand, Afghan media said that during the same speech, Sirajuddin Haqqani criticized other Taliban leaders without naming them, saying that “some people had no role in the war, but they are taking credit for the victory and return to power.”
He demanded that they refrain from such statements, not ignore the sacrifices and struggles of the people, and not claim victory in their own name.
He added that they should be grateful to these people because no one knew them in the past.
Sacrifices of the Taliban
They could not leave their homes for fear of drones and operations, but now they have gained fame and status, so exaggerated behavior can tarnish the sacrifices and struggles of the Taliban.
Afghan media claimed that the tension with Pakistan has further exacerbated the internal divisions within the Taliban, and Siraj Haqqani’s statement is also believed to be related to individuals considered close to Taliban Amir Mullah Haibatullah.
