President Zardari approves civil and military awards on Independence Day

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday approved several summaries, including the civilian and military awards and a 100-day remission in prisoner sentences on the occasion of the country’s 80th Independence Day.

The state-run Radio Pakistan reported that these included military awards for 1,172 personnel of the Armed Forces and Civil Armed Forces, and national awards for citizens from various civilian fields in recognition of their contributions and services.

In addition, the president approved a special remission of 1000 days in the sentences of eligible prisoners on the occasions of Independence Day and Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

As per the details, a total of 355 Pakistani and foreign personalities will be awarded civil awards for rendering outstanding services in various fields. The civil awards ceremony will be held on March 23, 2027, on Pakistan Day.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Ahad Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani will be awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz.

Moreover, the President approved Sitara-e-Imtiaz for Federal Minister Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, DG IB Fawad Asadullah, Secretary Commerce Jawad Pal, and Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Allama Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi will also be awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, while Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam will be awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

Singer Tarannum Naz, actress Nisho Begum, and comedian Iftikhar Thakur will be awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz for their contrbution in showbiz industry. Actress Ghazala Kaifee, Sania Saeed, Maria Wasti, and singer Zohaib Hassan will receive the Pride of Performance Award. Singer Shiraz Upal will be awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

In sports, Shooter Kashmala Talat and Former Test cricketer Sadiq Muhammad will be awarded the Pride of Performance Award.

Zubia Khurshid Raja will be awarded the Tamgha-e-Shujaat for bravely fighting the miscreants from Azad Kashmir. Zubia had saved the injured policeman from the clutches of the miscreants by risking her life.

In addition, 46 martyrs of law enforcement agencies, including Group Captain Asim Tariq Shaheed, will be awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat.

CEO DRAP Dr. Obaidullah will be awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and DG Suthra Punjab Babar Sahib Din will be awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Quaid-e-Azam’s physicians, Dr. Jal Ratanji Patel and Dr. Jal Dybo will be awarded the Nishan-e-Quaid-e-Azam posthumously.

Journalists Saleh Zafer and Haji Nawaz Raza will be awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Journalists Ammar Masood, Maria Zulfiqar, Adil Shahzeb, and Hammad Hassan will be awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

For international dignitaries, the President approved Sitara-e-Pakistan for Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Turkish Minister of Defense Yasir Guler, Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, while Saudi Prince Saud bin Nayef will be awarded the Hilal-e-Pakistan.
