MIRPUR (Asif Iqbal): Sub-Inspector (SI) Mirpur Police Chaudhry Riaz was suspended today after a scuffle between police personnel and lawyers in Mirpur District Court premises on Monday.
As soon as the incident was reported, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mirpur Khurram Iqbal took immediate notice and summoned the parties to his office.
After reviewing the initial facts, SSP Mirpur immediately suspended SI Chaudhry Riaz of Thothal Police Station and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
The inquiry has been entrusted to Additional Superintendent of Police Raja Nadeem Arif, who has been instructed to conduct a transparent investigation and submit a detailed report to SSP Mirpur within three days.
On this occasion, SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal said that the blackcoats and the police are supportive of each other, and emphasized that the police respect the legal community wholeheartedly. He expressed his resolve that the supremacy of law and mutual respect will be ensured at all costs.
The legal community also appreciated the prompt and timely steps taken by the SSP Mirpur and said that the suspension of the sub-inspector is a welcome step, which will further strengthen the harmony between the police and lawyers.
