Commissioner Poonch Division reviews service delivery after border tensions

POONCH (Kashmir English): During a recent meeting, Commissioner Poonch Division Masood ur Rehman appreciated both the district administration and the police for their care for the public when Indo-Pak tensions were high. He expressed that the way officials supported the community during hard times should not go unnoticed.

Commissioner Poonch stressed the need for continued, timely action by officers to further strengthen public trust and improve service delivery.

The meeting, held via video link, brought together senior officials from all four districts of Poonch Division. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the region, Sardar Zaheer Ahmed, was also present.

Among the attendees were Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch Sardar Umar Farooq, DC Sudhanoti Mumtaz Kazmi, DC Bagh Raja Sadaqat Khan, DC Haveli Raja Imran Shaheen, SP Sudhanoti Raja Nadeem Arif, DSP City Rawalakot Akmal Sharif, DSP Bagh Syab Abbasi, and DSP Haveli Sardar Farooq.

Addressing the session, Commissioner Masood ur Rehman said that there is a strong need to further build public confidence in state institutions. He urged administrative officers to ensure law and order and to promptly address public concerns.

DIG Police Sardar Zaheer Ahmed also spoke during the meeting. He emphasised that improving the quality of public service depends on strong cooperation between the police and civil administration. He noted that only through joint efforts can service standards be effectively raised across the Poonch Division administration.

During the meeting, they discussed the new problems brought by extreme heat and continued periods of no electricity. The commissioner ordered the Power Department to do whatever was immediately possible to help people who were suffering.

Zulfiqar Abbasi, in his role as Chief Electrical Officer, was ordered to finish repair work on power lines broken by the latest storm before nights set in.

The Poonch Division administration remains under pressure to ensure smooth service delivery amid various regional challenges. Officials continue to call for enhanced coordination and immediate action to maintain public trust in government systems.
