DHAKA (Kashmir English): Bangladesh has announced a 15-member squad for the first Test match against Pakistan. Najamul Hasan Shanto will lead the Bangladeshi side.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), this Test match will begin on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Along with experienced players, two new faces have also been included in the Bangladesh squad, who will be making their debut in Test cricket for the first time.
Along with Captain Najamul Hasan Shanto, Mehdi Hasan Miraz will take on the duties of vice-captain. The team includes Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Mominul Haq, Shadman Islam, and experienced all-rounders, while fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam have also returned.
The new players include Tanzid Hasan and Amit Hasan. Tanzeed Hasan has already shown his skills in limited-overs cricket, while Amit Hasan has managed to make a place in the team due to his excellent average in first-class cricket.
Bangladesh is currently ranked eighth in the World Test Championship and will look to strengthen its position by putting up a good show in the series against Pakistan.
The second Test of the series will be played in Sylhet from May 16 to 20.
