NEW YORK (Kashmir English): Apple is planning to split the launch of its upcoming smartphone, iPhone 18, into two different phases.

According to the latest reports, Apple will introduce the Pro models of the iPhone 18 in late 2026, contrary to its annual tradition, while its standard model is expected to hit the market in early 2027 after a few months of delay.

The main reason for this unusual delay is attributed to supply chain difficulties and rising prices of components, especially memory chips. Apple is resorting to a phased launch this time to control production costs and ensure stock availability.

The most important development regarding the iPhone 18 is its 12 GB RAM, which was usually limited to only the Pro models, but will now be available in the basic model as well.

In addition, it will use the latest A20 processor, which will be based on 2-nanometer technology, which aims to increase the speed of the phone many times without burdening the battery.

Technology experts say that the main reason for this large increase in RAM is the increasing demands of ‘Apple Intelligence (AI).

More computational power is required to run the latest artificial intelligence features and improved versions of Siri, which will now be fulfilled by the iPhone 18.

In terms of design, minor changes are expected in the phone, which will include a 6.3-inch 120 Hz OLED screen and a smaller ‘Dynamic Island’. The selfie camera is also likely to be upgraded to 24 megapixels.

Some complications in the ‘camera control button’ can also be reduced to save production costs.
