SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has reaffirmed its pledge to finding a peaceful resolution to the long-pending Kashmir dispute as per the UN resolutions.

APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas while talking to Kashmir Media Service in Srinagar lamented that the final settlement of the dispute still remains elusive despite passage of over 77 years and India and Pakistan having fought wars during the period.

He emphasized the importance of respecting the aspirations with a righteous demand of the Kashmiri people and reaffirmed the Hurriyat’s dedication to peaceful methods of dialogue and cooperation between the parties to the dispute to achieve a resolution.

He expressed serious concern over the hate politics and illegal actions of Indian government and its installed regime, saying the drastic and unilateral changes have further complicated the issue and disempowered the Kashmiri people.

Long-standing Kashmir dispute

He said, the APHC, formed in 1993, was a political initiative for supporting a political resolution of this long-standing Kashmir dispute on the democratic principle of respect for the aspirations and will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as promised in United Nations resolutions. He said, “Kashmiris struggle is for justice, peace, political rights and identity”.

He said, after August 2019, the disputed territory was divided into UTs and all resources, rights, identity and economy was snatched which, it said, is a violation of international laws and attack on defenceless people of the territory.

Referring to the events of post-1947, he said, the Kashmir dispute is an international dispute, and this time the situation is very serious like a war due to the unresolved Kashmir dispute.

He also criticized India’s anti-Pakistan propaganda which is adding more tension and fear in the region.

The spokesperson urged United Nations and its members to come forward to resolve Kashmir dispute as per aspirations of people of Kashmir as United Nations promised to the people of the territory decades back.
