ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that cashless transaction facilities have been made available at all Passport Offices throughout the country, allowing people to pay their passport charges without having to queue up in long lines.

The news was shared by the interior minister on the social networking site X, who highlighted that this is an important achievement of the government in its endeavor to bring about the digitalization of the services it provides to the citizens.

“Starting today, cashless transactions are operational at all Passport Offices throughout Pakistan. No more long queues or long waits for payment,” Naqvi said.

According to the interior minister, the implementation of the digital payment system across the country was made possible because of instructions by the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif.

With the digital payment system, the passport charges will be paid digitally without any processing delay and without making any cash transaction at the payment counter.

The officials believe that the move will help immensely in reducing the congestion in the passport offices, besides increasing the transparency, financial accountability, and operational efficiency of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.

It is a part of the wider digital governance plan launched by the government to ensure that government services are faster and more transparent with the help of technology.

Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the efforts made by the passport administration and other people working on the initiative, stating that the success of the launch signifies the government’s efforts to make its citizens’ lives easier.

He said that there were many reforms and initiatives in the pipeline in order to further improve the delivery of public services in the future.
