MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has termed the Geo News report regarding refugee seats as incorrect.
The AJK PM said that I have always maintained that the current status of these seats needs to be changed.
Tagging Geo News in a tweet, he said that the formula of refugees’ representation needs to be retuned. Nobody can disenfranchise or deprive our refugees of their right to representation in the legislative assembly.
Misreporting. I’ve always maintained that the current status of these seats needs to be changed. The formula of refugees’ representation needs to be retuned. Nobody can disenfranchise or deprive our refugees of their right to representation in legislative assembly. https://t.co/hHDcg880eu

Earlier, Geo News had reported news about AJK PM quoting him as saying that the elimination of refugee seats is not a complaint or grievance, but a legitimate demand.
According to Geo News, in a statement, the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that the best way to achieve political rights is political struggle, not protest or rioting. As far as the refugee seats are concerned, their current status is unacceptable.
Reacting to this, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had said that if Faisal Mumtaz Rathore gave any opinion or formula, it was not shared, and we cannot give our opinion on social media reports.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that if the Prime Minister talks to the Azad Kashmir Muslim League-N, he will give his reaction. Our position is that the 12 seats cannot be eliminated immediately; a constitutional amendment is required to eliminate the 12 seats.
