MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Inland Revenue Department South Zone has successfully extended the AJK POS Invoicing System to several well-known local retailers and business stores in District Mirpur, marking a significant step in tax system modernisation.
According to a press release issued by the department’s spokesperson, the implementation of the AJK POS Invoicing System began in February 2025 with leading national brands and business outlets. So far, almost forty business retailers have adopted the new invoicing system.
Following this progress, the department has now added several famous local companies to the AJK POS Invoicing System.
These include well-known names such as Nafees Restaurant, Rupyal Hotel, Ajwa Bakers & Restaurant, Mix Plate, Babar Khan Shinwari, Smoking Grill, Jabeer Hotel, Mir Ji Restaurant, and Crust Pizza.
The inclusion of these local businesses marks a major milestone for the Inland Revenue Department in its efforts to enhance tax transparency and efficiency.
According to the department, over the following days, local retailers already paying sales tax and falling under Tier-1 will also connect to the AJK POS Invoicing System.
The smooth introduction of this digital initiative is supported by the engagement of the department’s IT staff and those working in the field.
Initial results indicate that sales tax revenue is already going up due to the use of the AJK POS Invoicing System. Plans for further growth lead the department to believe that tax collection will improve even further in the near future.
The AJK POS Invoicing System is part of a larger strategy to move retail sales to a clear and honest digital system. The action in Mirpur reports the department’s resolve to introduce modern tax tools and ensure both national and local companies comply.
When more companies use the AJK POS Invoicing System, it should support revenue growth and a fairer tax system throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
