MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir Food Authority crackdown has intensified in the city markets against substandard and unregistered food items.

The Food Authority’s special checking campaign and covert sting operations are in full swing in small and large markets in Muzaffarabad city, as well as in suburban and adjoining areas.

During these operations, unregistered, sub-standard, and expired food items are identified and immediately seized, while sub-standard products are destroyed on the spot.

According to Food Authority officials, shopkeepers and suppliers have already been issued multiple warnings and legal directives. “Now, if any food items are found in any shop, warehouse, or supply point that lack registration, laboratory quality reports, or other mandatory documents, not only will those goods be seized and destroyed, but the concerned shop will also be sealed.”

No compromise on quality food

Officials clarified that there will be no compromise on public health, and strict monitoring will continue at all levels to ensure food quality.

Citizens and traders are also appealed to avoid purchasing goods from unregistered or suspicious suppliers.

“If the sale or distribution of substandard, expired, or undocumented food items is observed anywhere, immediately report it to the Food Authority Helpline 1280 so that timely legal action could be taken.”
