MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has cancelled the weekly holiday of officers and staff involved in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls to ensure the timely completion of election-related work.
According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, the decision applies to administrative officers, deputy commissioners, revising authorities, registration officers, assistant registration officers, and other support staff assigned duties related to electoral rolls.
The notification stated that this decision will remain in force till the completion of the resolution and correction of complaints and objections received on the provisional electoral rolls.
All the concerned officers have also been directed to be present in the offices on Saturdays and deal with matters related to the election process, it added.
Copies of the notification have been sent to all the concerned authorities, including the Principal Secretary to the President, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Principal Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, and Secretary Election Commission, Azad Kashmir.
Officials said that this step has been taken to ensure timely preparation and transparency of electoral rolls so that public objections to voter lists for the upcoming elections can be addressed in a timely manner.
