MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority has prioritized public health by taking decisive action against substandard food products under Section 25 of the Food Authority Act.
Based on laboratory reports, the authority has imposed a complete ban on the sale, distribution, and storage of certain products deemed harmful to human health.
The food authority declared Shafaq Banaspati, Alpine Banaspati, and Kainat Special Banaspati unsatisfactory in safety and quality parameters based on the laboratory report of the Punjab Food Authority, with a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh imposed on the products.
Furthermore, the authority also imposed a complete ban on the sale of these products throughout Azad Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the AJK Food Authority has declared the product “Khyber Zar Ghee” of United Ghee Industry as substandard and harmful to health in light of the laboratory report of NIH Islamabad. The authority has imposed a complete ban on its sale, distribution, and storage in Azad Kashmir.
All seized ghee stock will be safely destroyed under the supervision of Food Safety Officers to prevent public access.
While talking to the media, Secretary Food Authority Abdul Hameed Kayani, advised citizens to avoid these products and report any complaints to the Food Authority immediately.
This move underscores the authority’s dedication to protecting public health and ensuring food safety in Azad Kashmir. “Citizens are requested to avoid these products while shopping, and in case of any complaint, contact the concerned Food Authority immediately,” it added.
