MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The representatives of Azad Kashmir Dairy Farmers Association have demanded that the government enact effective legislation to ensure the supply of pure milk to citizens.
They said that with the cooperation of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, district administration, Food Authority, Municipal Corporation, and the public, the mission to ensure the supply of pure milk to every home in Muzaffarabad within one year will be continued.
They welcomed the decision of the High Court to cancel the new price list based on the feasibility report of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department and restore the old one, stating that it is an important step to save the dairy farming industry.
According to the association, measures will be taken in collaboration with the Livestock Department to increase the production and improve the quality of pure milk, while the department will also continue to patronize and support dairy farmers.
They described the district administration as respectable, stating that they have no personal animosity with them, but due to pressure from the public and some inexperienced elements, measures for the development of the industry were inadvertently affected.
They said that dairy farming is a proper industry, and if promoted, it will not only reduce unemployment but also lessen the financial burden on the government and can protect citizens from the harmful effects of adulterated milk by providing them with pure milk.
The association said that an operation against substandard milk is underway across the city under the leadership of Municipal Magistrate Sardar Imran, and a committee has been formed to establish a clear distinction between pure and adulterated milk, which is collecting complete data of milk shops.
Pure milk at a reasonable price
Finally, the Dairy Farmers Association appealed to the public to decide for themselves whether they want to protect their health by buying pure milk at a reasonable price or face diseases and expensive treatments later by consuming substandard milk at a lower price.
