MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The polling for the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) general elections in three districts of  Muzaffarabad division concluded on Sunday amid allegations of rigging and incidents of violence at several polling stations.

As the vote count is underway in 21 constituencies of Muzaffarabad division, Kashmir Digital has started receiving the unofficial and preliminary results from multiple polling stations.

LA-25 Upper Neelum

Ahead – Shah Ghulam Qadir (PML-N): 3,201

Behind – Mian Abdul Waheed (PPP): 2,022

Behind – Tanveer Ilyas (IPP): 145

Polling in this constituency was postponed after polling material and election staff failed to reach the constituency on time due to a landslide.

Following the disruption, the Election Commission issued a fresh schedule, announcing August 4 as the new polling date.

A three-way contest is expected in the constituency, with former government minister Noreen Arif representing the PML-N, Sardar Javed Ayub contesting on the PPP ticket, and Sardar Tabarak Ali representing the IPP.

LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II (Lachhrat)

Ahead – Syed Bazil Ali Naqvi (PPP): 7,736 votes

Behind – Chaudhry Shahzad Mahmood (PML-N): 5,182 votes

Polling in 52 of the 147 polling stations of LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II (Lachhrat) has also been postponed until August 4 for the same reason.

Over 300 candidates were in the fray for the Muzaffarabad seats and the 12 seats for refugees settled in different regions.
