MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday strongly condemned the statements made by federal ministers on the recent incidents in Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir.
The session was chaired by Speaker Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar. Through a resolution presented by former President and Prime Minister / MLA Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, the session of the Legislative Assembly strongly condemned the statements made by federal ministers regarding the recent incidents in Rawalakot.
In particular, it strongly condemned Khawaja Muhammad Asif, who holds the position of Defense Minister, for refusing to even recognize the people of Rawalakot as Kashmiris.
“In the opinion of this august house, the Prime Minister of Pakistan should have taken notice of this.”
“Mr. Speaker, for the record, those who had their skins flayed alive in 1832 belonged to this very land. Ghulam Haider Jandhalvi, who represented Kashmiris in the Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940, as well as the resolution for accession to Pakistan on July 19, 1947, and the founding President Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, were also sons of this land.”
“It is regrettable to deny the sacrifices of elders such as the heroes of the freedom war Captain Hussain Khan Shaheed and Khan of Mang Khan Muhammad Khan.”
The resolution stated that the irresponsible conduct of federal ministers has acted as fuel to the fire. Their behavior has had negative effects on Kashmiris in Rawalakot, other areas of the state, and abroad.
“Through this august house, I demand that the proposal for the establishment of a “Truth and reconciliation Commission” by Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, be implemented, and any action in Rawalakot be stopped until then.”
“Furthermore, he said, the Election Commission should play its role in conducting clean and transparent elections. The irregularities committed during the recent elections in Mirpur Division should be rectified before holding elections.
Truth and reconciliation Commission
Truth and reconciliation Commission is the only solution. It can save the state from further chaos in this situation.
A resolution presented by Assembly Member Sardar Hassan Ibrahim stated that this house expresses extreme concern over the situation in Azad Kashmir.
It termed the martyrdoms of the public and forces in Rawalakot and other places as an irreparable loss.
“Current circumstances demand that further loss of life in the state be avoided. In such a delicate situation, the labeling of the people of Azad Kashmir in general as Indian agents by some political leaders is contrary to historical facts and is an insult to the eternal bond of the people of Azad Kashmir with the state of Pakistan.”
