MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The central chairperson of the Muslim Conference Women’s Wing and chairperson of the Kashmir Women Alert Forum (KWAF), Samia Sajid has said that the Mirwaiz family played a historic role in promoting Islamic values in Kashmir and preserving the Islamic identity of the state.

The social services rendered by this family cannot be overlooked, she said in her special message on the anniversary of Mirwaiz Kashmir Maulvi Mohammad Yousuf Shah.

During the Dogra era, Maulvi Mohammad Yousuf Shah, through the platform of the Muslim Conference, challenged the occupying forces and carried out the historic task of connecting the Muslims of Kashmir with the ideology of Pakistan.

In this struggle, he even had to migrate. Even today, the Mirwaiz family in Srinagar continues to lead the freedom movement, she said.

The light that national figures and leaders like Mirwaiz Kashmir have ignited is now carried forward by the Kashmiri youth, who are keeping this light alive at the cost of their lives.

“Despite India using its full force, it has failed to suppress the voice of truth and justice.”

Samia Sajid further said that Mirwaiz Kashmir Maulana Mohammad Yousuf Shah and his family rendered invaluable services to keep the Kashmiri people connected to Islam and to grant them the blessing of freedom.

“They were the true well-wishers and leaders of the Kashmiri people, who not only acquainted them with Islamic teachings but also preached unity and solidarity.”

She further said that Shah dedicated his life to teaching, religious, social, and spiritual services, as well as to the freedom movement and the merger with Pakistan, and this was the core of his struggle.
