Pakistan to host US-Iran agreement ceremony in Geneva: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan will host the agreement ceremony between the US and Iran in Geneva.

Speaking in the National Assembly, PM Shehbaz Sharif said the US and Iran have announced a permanent cessation of military action on all fronts, and the two sides have not abandoned patience, tolerance, and wisdom in difficult situations.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan will host the peace agreement ceremony between the US and Iran in Geneva. I congratulate Pakistan and the entire world on this.

PM Shehbaz Sharif further said that I am also deeply grateful to the party leadership, my party leader, Nawaz Sharif, whose guidance is always available to me.

I congratulate President Asif Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and all party leaders. This is not just an agreement between two countries, but it is a victory of peace and dialogue, it is a success of diplomacy, and the destruction of war.

The Prime Minister said that in this esteemed chamber, I congratulate US President Trump, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, the Iranian President, and all members of both teams participating in the peace process.

The parties did not abandon their prudence, wisdom, and patience in difficult circumstances. I pay tribute to the full cooperation of the Emir of Qatar in the delicate, difficult, and patient process of negotiations.

The Emir of Qatar played a very positive role. I am also grateful for the far-sighted leadership and strong cooperation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the President of Turkiye.

PM Shehbaz Praised Field Marshal Asim Munir

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his efforts in promoting peace and preventing conflict, saying his leadership and determination played a significant role during a critical period.

The prime minister said that Field Marshal Asim Munir dedicated his days and nights to extinguishing the flames of war and establishing peace.

He added that the army chief demonstrated determination, perseverance and wisdom even under the most challenging circumstances.

According to the prime minister, there were moments when it appeared that the negotiation process might fail, but Field Marshal Asim Munir remained committed to the objective and continued his efforts without losing hope.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives at the international level helped ease tensions and create an environment conducive to dialogue.

He added that sincere efforts, a prudent strategy, and continuous engagement eventually paved the way for a ceasefire and a peace agreement.

The prime minister further stated that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s key role contributed significantly to preventing a major conflict and its potentially devastating consequences.

He emphasized that the pursuit of peace through dialogue and diplomacy remains essential for regional and global stability.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the diplomatic team and all relevant institutions and said that Pakistan’s political and military leadership worked together for the national interest and world peace.

He said that history will always remember Pakistan’s key role in establishing a ceasefire and peace in golden letters.
