ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A photo has surfaced online allegedly showing a core member of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), Sardar Aman Khan, alongside associates carrying weapons.
Security sources have said that recent incidents in Azad Kashmir have exposed the unrest, provocation, and violent agenda of the Awami Action Committee under the guise of public rights activism.
Officials further said that previously circulated photos of JAAC miscreants have reinforced the impression of systematic planning behind the scenes of recent incidents in Rawalakot and other areas in the region.
The demand for public rights by the banned Joint Action Committee is just a show, while their real goal from the beginning was to promote provocation and instability, officials said.
Authorities alleged that certain speeches and public statements by JAAC leaders had contributed to heightened tensions and encouraged provocation.
According to experts, it is a clear fact that a systematic attempt is being made to spread instability under a complete plan with Indian backing.
The violent incidents in Rawalakot and other cities, and the photo of the ringleader that has come to light, make it clear that the banned JAAC aims to promote unrest and violence, experts said.
Strict and indiscriminate action should be taken against all those involved in challenging the state writ and spreading unrest according to the law, experts added.
Govt restores JAAC members’ FIRs
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has ruled out any possibility of holding further negotiations with the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and restored previously withdrawn FIRs against the action committee members.
As per details, the AJK government had withdrawn FIRs against 177 members of the Action Committee involved in violent disruptions to support the dialogue process after all the previous talks, including the negotiations held with the group in October last year.
However, the government’s Law and Justice Department has now issued a notification to restore those cases relating to ‘protest and agitation of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee’.
“Pursuant to the decision of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet, taken during its 41st meeting held on 5th of June 2026, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been pleased to accord approval to withdraw the notifications regarding cases relating to protest and agitation of the Proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee before various competent criminal courts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” the notification stated.
