MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division, Badar Munir, has issued strict instructions to take action against wall chalking, illegal banners, hoardings and advertising material.
In this regard, the Commissioner issued a directive to the Deputy Commissioners of Muzaffarabad, Neelum and Jhelum Valley.
Instructions have been issued by the Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division to all concerned departments to immediately remove illegal banners, posters and wall chalking in the city to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the city.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Act 2001
In Azad Kashmir, under The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition of Wall Chalking and Affixing Hoarding Act 2001, wall chalking and displaying advertisements on public and private properties without permission is a crime.
The directive, referring to the “Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition of Wall Chalking and Affixing Hoarding Act 2001”, clarifies that no individual, institution, organization or political party can do wall chalking or painting at any public or private place.
Action will be taken against violators and they will be punished with six-month imprisonment or a fine of Rs20,000.
The expenses incurred in removing wall chalking or illegal hoardings will also be recovered from those responsible. The Commissioner has instructed all departments to ensure strict implementation of the law.
