MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Deputy Commissioner Mirpur has banned the sale of electric stoves, heaters and other electricity-consuming items in view of the ongoing power crisis in the country.
The district administration has warned of strict legal action against those violate the ban.
Officials said the step has been taken to prevent unnecessary use of electricity and improve load management.

Due to the recent intense heatwave and subsequent excessive use of electricity, the load on the grid stations has been tripping frequently, which is causing inconvenience to the public.

One of the major reasons for the consumption of electricity is the reduction in electricity prices, due to which the public is using high voltage AC and stoves/heaters etc. in their homes.

Excessive consumption of electricity

In order to control the excessive consumption of electricity, it has been decided that a complete ban should be imposed on the purchase, use and consumption of electric stoves, heaters etc. so that the use of electricity could be limited to essential appliances.

No shopkeeper shall sell or buy electric stoves/heaters etc. nor shall any household user use such devices. If any electronics shop owner or household user is found violating this order, action will be taken against him under Section 188-APC.

Citizens and shopkeepers have been instructed to fully implement government orders.
