ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, Pakistan, has shared key guidelines regarding the issuance of e-travel documents (ETD) in case of a lost passport.
New guidelines cover the requirements and procedure regarding the issuance of e-travel documents for those traveling abroad. The guidelines said verification of identity card, passport, and immigration record has been made mandatory for the issuance of ETD.
A statement issued by the Bureau states that complete verification of the applicant’s identity and national status will be made before issuing ETD.
Manual passport
According to the officials, verification of NADRA identity and MRP or manual passport from IMPASS will be mandatory.
The statement said that if any discrepancy is found in the identity documents or other relevant records, the national status will be verified by the Ministry of Interior.
Officials said ETD will only be issued to individuals whose identity card and passport have both been fully verified.
If the identity card is verified but the passport is not, ETD can still be issued, however, if both documents are not verified, ETD will not be issued.
According to the statement if the identity card or passport is not available, the process will be advanced after verification from the Ministry of Interior.
IMPASS will also verify information through FIA’s traveling records, while for those holding manual passports, the relevant passport issuing authority will be contacted.
Furthermore, if a passport is found confiscated at the IMPASS office, FIA authorities at the relevant immigration port will be informed, and the Ministry of Interior and IMPASS must also be notified within 24 hours regarding the issuance of ETD, according to the guidelines.
