ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) on Friday announced a mutual electoral alliance ahead of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) general election 2026.
The decision was made after an important meeting was held between high-level delegations of both parties in Islamabad.
In the meeting, both sides decided that the PPP will support the candidates of JUI-F in Pallandri and Dhirkot constituencies, while in all other constituencies, the JUI-F will support the candidates of the PPP.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, former Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, President of the PPP Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Ministers Nabila Ayub, Javed Butt, and the Prime Minister’s Political Assistant Syed Azadar Hussain Kazmi.
While the JHUI (F) delegation was led by the President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Azad Kashmir Maulana Saeed Yousaf. Maulana Imtiaz Abbasi, Maulana Idrees, Sahibzada Hammad Saeed, and Sardar Amjad Hussain were also present on the occasion.
PPP Leaders’ remarks
Prime Minister of AJK Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said that JUI-F has always played a role in democratic tolerance, adding that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a leader of high caliber whose political insight and foresight are appreciated.
“Maulana Saeed Yousaf’s democratic services and his religious services in the region are valuable,” he said.
He said that an alliance has been formed between the PPP and JUI-F, and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will officially announced.
Speaking on the occasion, senior PPP leader Sardar Tanveer Ilyas said that he has long-standing family relations with JUI-F AJK Ameer Maulana Saeed Yousaf, and it has always been his wish that JUI-F and the PPP AJK unite on one platform.
“Both parties are playing an important role in parliamentary politics, while JUI-F has always worked for the promotion of democratic tolerance.”
He said that the alliance is welcome for both parties and will bring about a positive change in the politics of the region.
President of PPP AJK Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin said that JUI-F Azad Kashmir and the People’s Party have always had cordial and principled relations.
“Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has always promoted the politics of democratic and principled unity, adding that in the 2026 elections, both parties will play an important role in the formation of the next government in the state,” Yasin mentioned.
President JUI-F AJK remarks
Talking on the occasion, President of JUI-F Azad Kashmir Maulana Saeed Yousaf, said that there is strength in unity and the welfare of the people can be ensured through collective struggle.
“Through unity, public support will be further strengthened throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Pallandri and Dhirkot, and joint efforts will continue to establish a stable government,” Saeed Yousaf added.
He thanked all PPP leaders, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz, adding that the unity of political forces will create new possibilities for development and stability in the region.
“We will struggle together in the 2026 elections, Insha Allah, success will be our destiny,” he stated.
